Bio

Yawar Nazir Kabli is a seasoned NGO and humanitarian photojournalist with over three decades of experience, based in India. He specializes in creating powerful visual narratives for NGOs, humanitarian organizations, and corporate CSR initiatives.

Born in conflict-ravaged Kashmir, Yawar discovered his passion for storytelling in a creative household, inspired by his father, a chief photographer. By 18, he had begun his journey in cinematography and later transitioned to photojournalism under the guidance of Fayaz Kabli, a Reuters photojournalist.

Yawar’s career began in 2005 with Reuters and expanded to freelancing for agencies like Gamma Presse, Polaris, and Scoopt, a Getty Images platform. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, National Geographic, Time, and Al Jazeera. Currently, he freelances as a photojournalist particularly for the Getty Images.

A career highlight includes documenting for UNICEF. His projects address critical issues such as public health, disability, education, and resettlement, reflecting the resilience of human lives.

In addition to his work as a photojournalist, Yawar is a skilled freelance photo editor with extensive experience collaborating with international organizations, NGOs, and media outlets. Known for precision, creativity, and a deep understanding of visual storytelling, he excels in curating and editing impactful images that resonate with global audiences.

• one of the world top most agency | cover war, Landscape, Photo-essays, and photo-features for the agency and produced high level professional images to them but Getty decide to shut down the Scoopt due to the Global recession in January 2009.
